Description Excellent contract to hire position for a Plant Cost Accountant with Manufacturing experience!   

 

JOB SUMMARY

Maintain and analyze the company’s cost accounting system to ensure the proper recording of product costs. Assist plant management in the review and control of plant spending and provide informational reporting and interpretation of data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the cost accounting system to ensure accurate and timely information is provided for financial and management reporting in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provide management with concise, timely reports that provide pertinent information necessary to make informed decisions.
  • Perform investigative studies to verify that costs are allocated accurately. Make recommendations to improve the allocation of labor, material, and overhead costs.
  • Complete assigned journal entries and verify support schedules to general ledger accounts.
  • Reconcile inventory monthly
  • Review changes in inventory values, investigate significant discrepancies and make recommendations to Controller for changes.
  • Maintain Intercompany price list.
  • Research and analyze variances, informing management of those findings and providing resolutions.
  • Assist in the generation of the annual plant budget.
  • Assist in the preparation of the year-end inventory audit and appropriate schedules.
  • Assist plant management and personnel in spending review, analysis and appropriate account coding.
  • Assist management of inventory through appropriate review of costs, BOM, routings, ECO’s, adjustments, negative balances and of slow moving items.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Requirements

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Four-year accounting or business degree and two to four years related experience.
  • CMA preferred
  • Must be motivated, a self-starter, and possess the ability to work independently.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and problem solving skills.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS Proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, databases, E-mail software, and 10-key by touch.  Preferably with Microsoft Office products.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS This employee must be able to move 25 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT An employee in this position works in an office environment with heating and air conditioning.
