Applications Systems Programmer / Analyst Sr.

Summary of Position:   

Under general direction, identifies system requirements through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents those programs.

Essential Accountabilities – Other duties may be assigned:   

• Creates and/or updates the appropriate Project Management Methodology (PMM) documents within the needed timeframes.

  • Designs, develops and tests complex software components of an application using appropriate software tools and languages. 

  • Provides assistance concerning the resolution of complex technical problems.

  • Provides project leadership and technical expertise to facilitate the implementation of new complex applications and complex enhancements of existing applications.

  • Effectively communicates complex business and technical information and developments to users and technical staff.

Education and Years of Experience:  

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field, with 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience of application systems programming/analysis supporting core systems application functions, preferably in a healthcare environment; or any combination of education and experience providing the types and levels of knowledge, skills, and abilities required by the job. Competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office, or similar software applications preferred.

• Demonstrated thorough knowledge of SQL (stored procedures and embedded), Sybase or MS SQL Server, Visual Basic or C++.

• IBM – DataStage ETL Tool
• Facets Development –  SQL Stored Procedure, MS SQL and DB2 SQL
• Java Programming Language
• Visual Studio 2005
