Division Description

DISH Network Service, L.L.C. is the installation and service division for DISH Network. We drive technology and believe that everything we do must begin and end with the customer experience. We provide training and education that ensures one call, one trip resolution. We develop and motivate our team by ensuring opportunity through ongoing formal career training and development and provide exceptional promotional opportunities. Our field service technicians work hard in all kinds of weather to provide installation of equipment and teach our customers how to use their state-of-the-art DISH satellite TV system. Our technicians are supported by many other DNS employees including dispatchers, trainers, quality assurance specialists, inventory specialists and operational analysts and managers.

Summary:

 

Southern Star, Inc. is the nation's largest Regional Service Provider (RSP) for Dish Network. Our work teams total 450+ technicians in 13 locations in the states of Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Our mission is to install and service Dish Network satellite TV systems.

The DBS installation technician will be expected to efficiently and professionally install Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) equipment and service at customer sites. The installer will install all necessary equipment to complete the assigned work that ensures complete customer satisfaction while adhering to industry and company technical standards.


 Position Responsibilities:

 

  • Installs and services DBS equipment (includes, but is not limited to: receiving antennas, LNB’s wiring, multi-switches, and IRD’s) at customer locations
  • Installs and services peripheral equipment related to DBS installations. (Includes, but is not limited to: off-air antennas, telephone outlets, wired and wireless remote extenders, and surge protectors)
  • To provide the highest quality customer education in the proper use of equipment and/or services installed
  • Reconciles all assigned work to company and vendor call centers
  • Maintains proper paperwork related to all assigned work
  • Maintains and keeps secure all issued equipment and materials and report any losses to appropriate personnel immediately
  • Works under minimal supervision on duties and assigned tasks of substantial variety and complexity
  • Any other duties as assigned

 

job Requirements

Requirements: 

 

  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 75 lbs, perform overhead activities, and climb ladders
  • Required to work at heights of 40 feet or more
  • Must be able to perform assigned duties in a confined space
  • Must be able to use mechanical and electrical power tools and handle physically exerting workload
  • Must be able to perform work outside for extended periods of time
  • Must possess visual capability to perform close exacting work
  • Must have valid driver’s license, be able to operate a motor vehicle and maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by SSI’s insurance carrier
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be at work fully prepared and on time for the entire duration of every scheduled work day

 

Education:

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

 

Experience:

 

  • One to two years of job-related experience in CATV, Telephony, or DBS installation work preferred
  • Should have fundamental knowledge of residential and commercial building construction techniques and wiring and installation codes

 

 

Training pay provided: $11.00/hr for first 30 days, then test to next level @ $12.00/hr until training is complete (apx 60 days total)
