Job Description

Assist Payroll Manager with complex report-writing, special projects, system testing, troubleshooting ADP and E-Time issues.  Under direction, performs work of complex tasks relating to the processing of UNFI Western Region payroll.  Also entering new hires into the payroll system, posting changes in pay and tax status, maintaining time and attendance uploads, printing and auditing payroll reports, entering ACH information and processing garnishments and wage attachments.  Also responsible for resolving employee questions and ensures payroll functions are completed in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations. Provide appropriate escalation of issues to management as needed.

 

Assist Payroll Manager

• Create and distribute bi-weekly, and monthly  ReportSmith Reports including; 401k, Accrual Liability, Distribution Metrics, FSA Deductions, Universal Life, Vacation/Sick Allowed/Taken Reports, Food Bill, Headcount, Bureau of Labor Statistics Reporting.
• Generate and initiate quarterly reporting for New Mexico Worker’s Compensation Assessment Fees, Washington Worker’s Compensation Premiums, and Nevada Business Tax.
• Assist with quarterly and annual payroll tax reconciliation including review of Wage and Tax Register and Quarterly Tax Summary.

Processing UNFI Western Region Payroll
•  Accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll for 1500 employees in multiple states/legal entities.
•  Maintain employee records in the Payroll/Human Resources ADP Enterprise system including new hires, W4’s, direct deposit information, job title, I9, department, and compensation. 
•  Imports files into ADP for check processing; i.e. E-Time EPIP file, driver, differential, and bonus spreadsheets.
•  Reconciles and audits all payroll entries/accounts utilizing ADP preview and reconciliation reports.
•  Reviews payroll checks, payroll registers and prepares check distribution.
•  Set up and maintain employee wage garnishments.
•  Daily processes termination, manual checks and stop payments in timely manner, complying with state and federal wage and hour laws.
•  Research payroll bank reconciliation items. 

Responsible for resolving employee questions/issues.
•  Resolve payroll discrepancies.
•  Provide quality customer service – responds promptly to employee needs; responds to request for service and assistance for supervisors, managers and Human Resources.

Responsible for appropriate escalation of issues to management

•  Keep management well informed of activities and significant problems.
•  Prepares and distributes various management payroll reports.
•  Other duties as assigned by manager



Job Requirements

•  Knowledge of payroll tax laws, regulations and record keeping functions.
•  Knowledge of accounting standards and rules related to payroll and personnel issues.
•  Knowledge of ADP/PCPW/Enterprise/ReportSmith or other outside processing organizations.
•  Experience processing payroll for a company pf at least 500 employees and multi-state payroll environment.
•  Advanced Excel and system analysis skills.

 

Experience Required
•  Five plus years full scope payroll experience to include payroll processing, tax filing, payroll account reconcilation, payroll report writing.
•  Experience with processing 1000 + employees payrol, multi-state, multi-corporations

•  Advance Proficiency with Excel (V-Look Ups, Pivot Tables, etc.), Word, E-mail, and Internet Explorer.
