Job Description:
This position is contingent upon successful award of the Missile Defense Agency Engineering and Services Support (MiDAESS) contract located at The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Huntsville, Alabama. The anticipated award date is November/December 2009. Positions will be primarily based in Huntsville, Alabama, but may require work at other MDA sites.The Engineer is responsible for a variety of engineering tasks in the initial planning and design phase of projects.Responsibilities: Under direct supervision, may complete engineering assignments of limited complexity. Applies a beginning level of understanding within a specific discipline. Understands project scope as presented within a specific discipline. Provides support for client’s engineering deliverables. Introduced to business development concepts and is able to support proposals. Limited familiarity with codes, permits and software applications related to the discipline. Introduced to the work sequence, general content, and methods used to generate specifications for purchase of material, equipment, systems, services, or construction within engineer’s discipline. Introduced to the process of preparing calculations within a specific discipline. Able to learn and use basic CAD sketching tools. Can read and understand construction drawings. Assists in the collection of data and information regarding technical and economic factors relating to a specific subject within a specific discipline. Possesses basic knowledge of the use of requisitions and the role of materials management. Able to use vendor documents as reference for assigned tasks and is able to review the discipline’s supplier documents for accuracy. Introduced to concepts of manpower loading for the discipline. Performs material take-offs for the discipline. Introduced to discipline’s material costs. Basic knowledge of planning and scheduling of engineering tasks. Introduced to project change control process. Introduced to discipline’s equipment and material lists. Introduced to constructability as an integral part of the way engineering conducts its business.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four -year accredited college or university.Experience: No experience required. FE (EIT) certificate preferred.Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
