Description

Come and be a part of of The Newspaper Network of Central Ohio.  We cover Ohio like no one else!  With 12 markets, 10 daily and 2 weekly newspapers, a network of Web sites, shopper publications and other products serving over 487,000 readers each week.  We have an immediate full-time circulation sales position available.

Circulation Sales - Regional Retail Manager
This position is responsible for achieving circulation single copy volumes through solid operational and sales/merchandising processes that are supported by effective draw regulation practices and strong distribution systems for maximum efficiency.  Ensure collections practices are solid and timely to ensure profitability levels are maintained for the organization, while maintaining the retailer relationships for maximum sales performance.  This position's main office will be located at the News Journal in Mansfield, Ohio.

 

1.       Manage, coach and counsel direct reports so they will exceed job expectations and
          reach their highest potential.   Regularly recognize and reward employees for their
          contributions.  Conduct all performance appraisals on time.  Effectively listen and share
          information with employees to ensure they are aware of company strategies and action
          plans so that efforts are successfully coordinated throughout all divisions.

2.       Increase net paid circulation and revenue by securing new single copy retail businesses
           at both traditional and non-traditional venues.

3.       Oversee and direct a solid and timely collections and payment system to ensure retail
          collections are achieved and processes strictly enforced to minimize write-offs and ‘at
          risk’ monies.  Work in conjunction with the Finance and Field Operations/Distribution
          Team to effectively manage shrink and the revenue impact from a growing retailer scan-
          based trading universe.

4.       Develop and strengthen retailer relationships through POP execution, promotional
          strategies and merchandising techniques, all supported by the Field Operations/
          Distribution team.

5.       Manage the department within budgeted staffing and expense guidelines.             

6.       Provide field level assistance tied to the execution of home delivery sales programs 
          such as kiosks, etc.

7.       Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

·         3-5 years management experience required

·         College degree or equivalent experience in sales and/or distribution operations required

·         Newspaper experience in sales and/or circulation operations preferred
