The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has critically important Information Technology professional positions for individuals who are qualified for these outstanding IT-related professional employment opportunities. 

 

DIA is a Department of Defense combat support agency and an important member of the United States Intelligence Community.  DIA provides military intelligence to warfighters, defense policymakers and force planners in the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community.  Its vital intelligence work supports U.S. military planning and operations and weapon systems acquisition.


Information Technology professionals develop and maintain highly sophisticated information systems that enable the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) to effectively store, process, analyze and disseminate collected intelligence. IT professionals provide the accurate, up-to-date information needed in order to monitor and respond immediately to world changing situations involving DIA’s mission and key intelligence producers and decision-makers worldwide – including the Department of Defense.

 

From information assurance to systems security, to administration and architectural planning, IT professionals provide the Intelligence Community with overall planning, management, operation and maintenance of our automated information systems. They  also:

 

  • Deliver crucial technology systems to produce and disseminate imagery, publications and other cutting-edge and Web-based intelligence products.

  • Initiate and assess systems capabilities to support specific intelligence requirements.

  • Evaluate technology that enhances our systems.

  • Develop technical standards and specifications.

  • Create and maintain computer based systems and applications programs.

 

IT professionals’ involvement in DIA’s projects is diverse - from producing handheld devices to developing large enterprise servers that collect and process huge volumes of data. Because IT professionals ensure system availability for thousands of users worldwide through some of the most advanced computer systems anywhere, their role can include deployment to more than 120 countries. There are also many career-related IT opportunities that do not involve travel, but the role of an IT professional always allows them to leverage emerging technologies in the realm of foreign military intelligence collection and production.

Job Requirements 

Required Experience:  Three years and above directly related. Candidates must also have expertise in:

 

  • IT principles, concepts and methods.
  • Systems architecture.
  • Infrastructure planning.
  • Systems analysis.
  • Design and management of networked systems.
  • Data management and software applications.
  • Worldwide telecommunications networks, local communications systems and Web technologies.
  • System requirements for intelligence gathering, analyzing information technology resources and developing computer-based systems.

 

Required Education:  Baccalaureate degree along with specific course work in information technology and/or a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, mathematics or a related field from an accredited college or university.
