Currently we are searching for a Senior Systems Administrator to join our IT department in Potomac, MD. This position is responsible for supporting Windows based servers, network infrastructure, firewall and will play a key role in disaster recovery planning. Essential Functions
- Install, configure, and support servers, data storage devices, firewalls, and networking gear at corporate office
- Configure and test all store servers prior to deployment to the stores
- Test new software releases, system upgrades, and software patches before deployment
- Monitor and maintain software back-ups and file synchronization across the WAN
- Analyze system logs to identify potential issues with computer systems
- Provide technical assistance to the helpdesk on level 2 and level 3 issues
- Introduce and integrate new technologies into existing data center environment
- Perform routine audits of systems and software
- Ensure that the network infrastructure is up and running
- Analyze system performance and make tuning adjustments for optimum performance
- Maintain configuration documentation and equipment inventory for all systems
- Troubleshoot any reported problems
- Answer technical queries
- Participate in multiple technology and business projects
Requirements
- 5+ years experience as a Systems Administrator in a Microsoft environment
- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field desirable
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Minimal MCP, or A+, or Network+, or comparable IT certification (Certification may be waived with more than 3 years of IT infrastructure experience
- Comprehensive understanding of Active Directory
- Windows XP, 2003, 2003 R2, 2008 operation, installation, and troubleshooting
- Windows Vista and Windows 7 desirable along with Server 2008 R2
- Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft server products (Exchange, SQL, ISA, SCOM, SCCM, SCVMM, SCDPM)
- Network infrastructure and TCP/IP
- Experienced in installing, upgrading, and troubleshooting hardware and software
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical people
- Willing to work flexible schedule with occasional nights and weekends required to perform system installs and upgrades. Weekend availability is mandatory during the fall holiday season.
