PURPOSE OF WAREHOUSE MANAGER

Directs all phases of activities related to warehousing, transportation and inventory functions of equipment, supplies and specialty items in a distribution center warehouse.   Responsible for supervision of all warehouse personnel.  Responsible for warehouse facilities, equipment and operations management.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directs the day-to-day activities of a central warehouse facility that is responsible for the distribution of product 

  • Plans, supervises and records, either by manual or automated inventory control system, the receipt, storage and distribution of equipment, supplies and specialty items in centralized warehouse operation.
  • Compiles and submits regular reports of damaged or outdated stock or supplies, over/undershipments, return of goods to manufacturer, etc.
  • Contacts manufacturers and customers/dealers to reconcile invoice discrepancies, shortages or overshipments or to arrange for emergency shipments or requisitions.
  • Develops and implements storage systems and procedures to obtain maximum use of space and storage areas.
  • Oversees inventory control, including maintaining accurate daily inventory, monitoring inventory variances and supervising periodic full physical inventories.
  • Supervises maintenance of facilities, product handling equipment and inventory warehousing control systems, manual or automated.
  • Provides daily oversight and supervision for assigned staff
  • Coordinates all warehousing activities with management and administration
  • Champions safe working conditions.

     

 

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES

  • Minimum High School diploma or GED required
  • Previous management or supervisory experience; experience in the receipt, storage or distribution of supplies or equipment preferred
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Company, in its discretion, may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Understanding of product flow within a distribution environment
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic business math
  • Ability to carry out oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of current materials, methods, tools and equipment (including technology) used in distribution operations
  • Ability to supervise and delegate to subordinates as needed
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
