Position Summary: The Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics seeks a Business/Grants Manager to work closely with the Assistant Director in the day to day management of the financial activity generated at the Institute.
Specific Duties include:
Assists faculty in grant proposal submission and budget preparation, and ensures that University and agency guidelines are followed and deadlines met. Implements university financial policies, as well as those policies and standards set by external funding agencies.
Manages all sponsored research grants post award, analyzing sponsored research spending from initial award to final close out. Establishes and monitors subcontracts.
Performs budget analyses, prepares quarterly projections for faculty and fellows. Advises and coordinates with faculty and sponsored research accounting when reports are due.
Supervises and backs up the Assistant Business/Grants Manager. Provides guidance on Institute purchasing and invoicing activity and ensures that the proper accounts are being charged.
Coordinates the Institute facility billing each month. Performs biweekly downloads for the Institute Access database. Monitors and maintains the Labor Accounting activity.
Coordinates grants or financial information with other departments/Institutes as needed.
Successful incumbent must have analytical expertise with strong accounting/financial/grants management background and be able to work independently. Additionally, the position requires: outstanding organizational skills, ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, able to deal diplomatically with people at all levels, a high degree of personal integrity, solid decision-making skills, flexibility, and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (especially Excel). Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) are key.
