The Swatch Group Ltd. was founded in 1983. Originally known as SMH, it was created out of the merger of two Swiss watch companies, Asuag and SSIH in addition to the launching of a low-cost, high-tech, artistic emotional watch – the Swatch.

The Swatch Group Ltd. in Biel (Switzerland) is today the largest manufacturer of finished watches in the world. In terms of sales (in Swiss Francs) the Swatch Group represents about 25% of watch production sales worldwide. In addition, the Group’s various subsidiary companies supply movements and components not only to Swatch Group brands but also to the entire Swiss watch industry and watch manufacturers outside of Switzerland. The Company also delivers high-tech components to other sectors such as computers, telecommunications, medical applications, the automotive industry and electronics.

The Swatch Group is an international group of companies engaged in the manufacture and sale of finished watches, jewelry, watch movements and timepiece components. We are the largest timepiece organization in the world producing high quality products that are as reliable, consistent and technologically advanced as they are beautiful.
The Group supplies nearly all components required by its eighteen watch brands, and Group companies also supply movements and components to many third-party watchmakers in Switzerland and around the world.

Our brand portfolio includes: Breguet, Omega, Blancpain, Glashutte, Jaquet Droz and Leon Hatot in the luxury range. Rado, Longines and Union in the high range. Tissot, Hamilton. , Calvin Klein, Balmain, Certina and Mido in the middle range. Swatch and FlikFlak in the basic range. Endura produces licensed watches under the Timberland and Mango name.
Swatch Group is also a key player in the manufacture and sale of electronic systems used in watchmaking, communications and other industries.
The Group employs more than 20,000 persons in over 50 countries. Gross sales in 2005 were 4.5 billion Swiss Francs (~$4 billion US).
