Overview

RHA Health Services, Inc.
is a leading non-profit provider of services and supports for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.  Across North Carolina and in parts of Tennessee and Georgia, we offer a wide range of effective, high-quality services.  Everywhere RHA has a presence, we provide a comprehensive support network for the people we serve that is both flexible and dependable.  RHA programs are licensed by the North Carolina Department of Facility Services and endorsed by Local Management Entities/Managed Care Organizations (LME/MCOs).

Founded in 1991, RHA began as a small cluster of ICF/MR group homes in North Carolina developed to offer support to people with disabilities.  Over the years, RHA Health Services has expanded to include supported living, vocational and day programs, periodic respite, personal care services, targeted case management, and much more.  In everything, we seek to demonstrate an organizational commitment to the dignity, independence, and equitable treatment of people, as well as their full inclusion into the communities around them.  Our core focus is the well-being of the people we support, our employees, and the communities in which they live. Enhancing the health, safety, and personal goals of each person we support is always our first priority.

At RHA, we provide a holistic, person-centered approach to care guided by a system of values that puts the needs of the people we support at the center of every decision.

Culture

RHA Health Services, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit corporation that was chartered in 1991 in North Carolina. The company is headquartered in Asheville, North Carolina. RHA has supported people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities for roughly twenty years through a variety of residential and periodic services. Currently, RHA serves over 1,000 individuals in North Carolina, and employs over 2,000 trained staff. The services we provide encompasses the efforts of many disciplines, including habilitation, nursing, medical, psychiatric and behavioral, social work and case management, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, vocational training and community integration.

We have well developed and documented screening and training methodologies to ensure that the skills of our employees are maintained and enhanced. We support people who have a broad range of skills and abilities as well as needs. Many individuals that we support have two or more disabilities, as well as chronic illnesses such as diabetes and osteoporosis. This intensity and mix of disability and health issues have required the development of significant skills and sophistication in both the delivery and oversight of services.

Our experience has also given us the skill to successfully confront the challenge of integrating the efforts of multiple disciplines and provider staff, and the desires of the family and the individual. We strive to use all of this energy and knowledge to find the most effective therapeutic and training opportunities, while still protecting the individual's rights and their right to choice, and to maximize the opportunity for a consumer driven service. We developed a significant number of residential and other community based opportunities for the former Thomas S. (MR/MI) class individuals, working closely with area programs and the families and individuals themselves. We have also developed services in collaboration with the Area Authorities/Local Management Entities/MCOs to support people with severe and persistent mental illness and substance abuse treatment needs.
