Description

To provide technical support and monitoring of all bottling equipment and packaging techniques.

  • Perform routinely scheduled packaging line audits including but not limited to:
  • Monitor wine temperature throughout the production process.
  • Monitor winemaking for compliance with wine specifications.
  • Monitor oxygen levels in the wine throughout the process from pad tank to bottle.
  • Monitor pressure and vacuum settings and performance on various pieces of bottling equipment.
  • Monitor corker performance by checking headspace vacuum and cork integrity.
  • Monitor capper performance by checking headspace pressures, headspace oxygen, removal torques and seal integrity.
  • Monitor fill volumes  to insure that they are within TFE and ATF specifications.
  • Verify that the proper labels are being used and that their placement on the bottle is correct.
  • Inspect bottle and case for accuracy and legibility of date coding.
  • Inspect case sealer for proper amount and placement of glue.
  • Inspect pallets for proper stretch wrapping.
  • Assist in proper sample collection for the wine library.
  • Perform warehouse audits of finished goods as required and provide detailed reports to management.

Other Functions:

  • Responsible for understanding Quality Management System related activities, including the quality policy and ISO awareness.
  • Inspect incoming packaging supply for compliance with specifications.

Working Conditions:

  • Work site may be any one of TFE’s facilities or copackers.
  • Must comply with all safety equipment requirements including ear plugs and safety glasses.
  • Exposure to various chemicals in production areas.
  • Exposure to machinery, forklifts and related production equipment.
  • Long and irregular hours during peak periods or on various shifts.
  • Extensive walking and lifting of up to 40 pounds.
  • Approximately 5% of work is out of doors.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in a winery / food plant quality control position.
  • BS in related field preferred.
  • College level courses in chemistry and / or food science preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good observation and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with data in Excel, Access, Word and SAP
  • Ability to accurately follow instructions and take direction.
  • Ability to respond to frequently changing production pressures.
  • Ability to handle numerous projects in progress at one time.
